Enhancing Skills and Setting New Standards
At Hinch Property Management, we believe that continuous training is essential for maintaining high standards and adapting to the evolving needs of the property inventory industry. This autumn, we held our bi-annual training session specifically tailored for our property inventory clerks. The session not only focused on skill enhancement and industry updates but also provided our team with tools to ensure they meet the demands of today’s property inspection standards with clarity and confidence.
Setting Clear Objectives for an Impactful Training Experience
Our autumn training was designed with several key objectives in mind to ensure the session provided practical, actionable knowledge for our clerks. This year’s focus was on:
- Updating Clerks on Operational Improvements
- Highlighting Report Changes and Best Practices
- In-Depth Look at Mid-Term Property Inspections
- Introducing the Instructions Department
Diving into Topics that Matter
Throughout the session, our clerks engaged with a variety of topics aimed at sharpening their skills and expanding their knowledge base. Core subjects included:
- Business and Industry Updates
- Inventory Best Practices and Report Enhancements
- Using the Property Inventory App
- Assigning Liabilities
- Documentation of Complex Areas
Expert-Led Sessions and Engaging Interactive Activities
We were fortunate to have our training led by key figures in our company: Dean Munday, our Operations Manager; Sarah Phillips, our Property Visit Coordinator; and Bonita, Head of the Instructions Department. Dean, who has completed all TDS training courses, offered in-depth insights into industry standards and best practices. Sarah brought her extensive experience in coordinating property visits, while Bonita introduced the new Instructions Department and highlighted its focus on overseeing large property portfolios.
In addition to presentations, the training featured an engaging “Liability Quiz.” This interactive element encouraged clerks to work together in teams to determine liability for various property issues based on real case studies. By examining practical scenarios, they could apply their knowledge and discuss solutions, making the learning experience both dynamic and memorable.
Positive Feedback and Empowered Clerks
Feedback from our clerks has been overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed that they left the session feeling not only more knowledgeable but also better prepared to carry out inspections with greater accuracy and professionalism. The training provided them with a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in property inspections and expanded their ability to handle nuanced issues with confidence.
One clerk commented, “The Liability Quiz was a fantastic way to test our knowledge in a practical setting. I feel much more equipped to identify and assign liabilities during my inspections.”
Looking Ahead: Continuous Training and Development
As part of our commitment to excellence, we plan to continue to hold regular training sessions to ensure our clerks are always up-to-date with industry standards and emerging practices. Continuous training empowers our team to grow professionally and meet the needs of our clients with an elevated level of service. We’re excited to see how these new skills and insights will be applied in the field and look forward to even more advancements in the future.
